In the vibrant city of Perth, Western Australia, a group of Bhutanese individuals came together with a common passion for football and a shared desire to build connections in their new home. Thus, Football Bhutan WA (FBWA) was born in 2014, registered officially as an apex body dedicated to organizing and providing football services to the Bhutanese community in Perth.

For the founders, many of whom were navigating the challenges of starting anew in a foreign land, football became more than just a game. It served as a bridge to socialize, integrate, and become integral parts of the local community. With this ethos at its core, FBWA quickly evolved into the hub of Bhutanese football in Western Australia.

From its humble beginnings, FBWA has grown into an organization that nurtures talent and fosters a sense of belonging. The association comprises associate clubs, Masters' teams, and grassroots training programs, providing opportunities for every football enthusiast to showcase their skills and participate in competitive settings.

Throughout the year, FBWA organizes a series of tournaments, including the prestigious FA Cup, League One, League Two, and Masters League. These events not only showcase the talent within the community but also serve as platforms for camaraderie and friendly competition.

At the heart of FBWA's mission lies the commitment to nurturing the next generation of football stars. The Mini Dragon Academy, a grassroots program, identifies and hones the talents of young football enthusiasts, providing them with the necessary skills and guidance to pursue their passion for football.

Each year, FBWA hosts a Gala Night to recognize and reward the talents within the community. It's a celebration of achievements, both on and off the field, where individuals are honoured for their contributions to the association and the broader community.

In 2022, FBWA organized the Gylsey Cup, one of the largest events in the Bhutanese community across Australia. Teams from different states descended upon Perth for a tournament that not only showcased the sporting prowess of the participants but also fostered bonds of friendship and camaraderie.

Beyond the trophies and accolades, FBWA takes pride in its role as a catalyst for positive change within the community. Through football, thousands of young individuals have found purpose, discipline, and a sense of belonging. As FBWA continues to grow, it remains committed to creating lifelong members and supporters who will pass on their love and passion for the association to future generations, ensuring that the spirit of Football Bhutan WA continues to thrive for years to come.

Mission: At FBWA, our mission is threefold:

1. To establish ourselves as the leading Bhutanese football organization in Western Australia, actively participating in Football West and other relevant competitions.
2. To cultivate a sense of belonging and loyalty among our members, creating lifelong supporters who will perpetuate their love and passion for FBWA to future generations.
3. To provide a platform for the development and growth of our members, enabling them to realize their full potential as both athletes and individuals. Through comprehensive training programs, mentorship, and community engagement initiatives, we aim to nurture well-rounded individuals who embody the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and leadership.
